JEAN-LOUIS SIBUET: A VISIONARY BUILDER

Jean-Louis got into hospitality when his parents, bakers by profession, bought Le Fer à Cheval in Megève. Since then his passion has unceasingly been his source of inspiration, which, with Jocelyne at his side, has grown into the success of today. The first hotel, Le Coin du Feu, purchased in 1981, was the beginning of an adventure, driven by the notion of “conceptual concept”, a philosophy based on a novel way of interpreting living space, giving it a soul with respect for the environment.

True to this concept, Les Fermes de Marie were created in 1989 as a veritable hamlet within the heart of Megève, made up of a dozen buildings all built from authentic local materials, lovingly collected by Jean- Louis over the years. From his passion for noble materials and his creativity were born the Swiss-chalet style wooden panelling of the Hotel Mont Blanc, the natural woods of Lodge Park in Megève, and the lime rendering on the Renaissance walls of the Cour des Loges, in Lyon.

Then came the Villa Marie and its chic Riviera style, the 18th century farmhouse of La Bastide de Marie, and the Domaine de Marie in the Luberon that honours vines.

The last acquisition has enabled Jean-Louis and Nicolas Sibuet, in charge of the renovation of the Enfants Terribles – Paris, to reveal yet another side of their talent: to transport a Megève-born concept elsewhere and overcome all the arising difficulties.

This capacity to diversify is yet another proof of Jean-Louis’ unique concept of his profession, in which he has every intention of continuing, seconded now by his son Nicolas, who shares his same vision of hotel hospitality and love of vines. Together they will explore new territories that will bear the mark of their seal: audacity for the sake of hospitality.
